Chinese Consulate General in Belfast Hosts a Reception to Celebrate the 77th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China

On September 22, the Chinese Consulate General in Belfast hosted a reception to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Consul General Li Nan attended and delivered a speech. Around 150 representatives from the political, business, cultural and educational circles of Northern Ireland, as well as Chinese enterprises, overseas Chinese and international students attended.

Consul General Li reviewed the great achievements made since the founding of the People’s Republic of China 77 years ago and the founding of the Communist Party of China 105 years ago, highlighted the development opportunities that China’s 15th Five-Year Plan brings to the world, as well as the four major global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping. He introduced the latest developments in China-UK relations, noted that pragmatic cooperation and friendly exchanges between China and Northern Ireland have yielded fruitful outcomes since the beginning of this year. The Consulate General will, as always, continue to serve as a bridge and link, and work to further deepen and substantiate exchanges and cooperation between China and Northern Ireland.

Ms. Jayne Brady, Head of Northern Ireland Civil Service delivered a speech, extending warm wishes for the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival and expressing willingness to further deepen exchanges and cooperation between the two sides across various field.

The reception featured wonderful cultural performances including face-changing, guzheng, dancing and singing, and was filled with a warm and friendly atmosphere.
